Reviews for Refuge in Little Falls

Review #71 . This book was rated 4 Stars by this reviewer
Fast, fun and fabulous!

Review:

What I liked:

I was able to read this book in a single rainy day. I love the characters! (And there is a whole town of them plus quite a few personable horses!) The back history shared in thought and dialogue was very good. And the story line was inspiring and oddly something I could relate to. We all encounter back luck and people determined to ruin our dreams.
Areas that could be improved: The writing style is rather simple (which is why I was able to read it so quickly). I noticed in many cases, what could have been a long complex sentence had been chopped up in many smaller...easier to read...sentences. It makes this a nice book for the beach, but truthfully I don't think wordsmiths (aka editors) will like such a simple style of writing. You might try to flourish it a bit...

A flawed but wonderful heroine that leads us with humor and trials

Review:

What I liked:

The characters and dialogue were very nice. I liked the fact that the heroine was far from perfect, especially in her men, but this story was more than just about her men relationships; it was about a town of people coming together to make a dream come to reality. I found it believable and inspiring.
Areas that could be improved: Carrie's missteps with men disturbed me, but after consideration...I wouldn't change that. It made her more human.

An admirable heroine even with all her flaws.

Review:

What I liked:

The characters all have flaws...even the good ones, which makes the real. The heroine does petty things and some really stupid things, but she is also determined, hardworking and honest. I thought the plot unique and the story intriguing.
Areas that could be improved: Needs another proofing, but I like the changes you made in the last re-write
Review #27 . This book was rated 4 Stars by this reviewer
A woman who will not accept defeat and a couple of men who don't accept 'no'.

Review:

What I liked:

I really liked this book. It had wonderful minor characters and several surprise turn of events. I was glad for the heroine, but glad my life is easier.
Areas that could be improved: If the other books in this 'secret' series are as good, I think they should be marketed as a series. I'd certainly read another one.

Characters so wonderful that you want to find this Little Falls, Montana and live there!

Review:

What I liked:

I really liked this book! When I'm having a bad day and nothing is going right, I ponder moving out to Little Falls myself...and seriously might if it wasn't a fictious town. It's more than a good romance. It is a book about refusing to admit defeat.
Areas that could be improved: Grammar and punctuation could be worked over, but overall, I thought everything good. I noticed in the Author's bio that this is one of many stories in a series of 'enhanced humans'. That surprised me. Except for Alex, who clearly thought himself 'enhanced' there was no clue that this book was not a stand alone. Look forward to reading the others. Also, consider a new title. It sounds like 'garbage' in Little Falls.

One amazing-but imperfect- woman that changes everyone around her.

Review:

What I liked:

Carrie Brown is declared flawed, and she is, but she is likable and very real. Excellent characters in this book. Strong dialogue.
Areas that could be improved: The sexual trysts took me a bit by surprise and to be honest, until I read the author's bio, I didn't completely understand it. But in her bio she discusses the fact that this novel is part of a series called Enhanced Humans. I would have like to know that BEFORE I read the novel.

Little too late

Review:

What I liked:

I enjoyed the storyline and each event was equally intriguing. Overall, it made me smile and I don't even like horses.
Areas that could be improved: I noticed a few situations that were described actually used the wrong name/pronoun when involved in a "she said" or "he said" situation. The spelling needs a bit more scrutiny.
