QUESTIONS FROM MEMBERS:
TECHNICAL ISSUES:
- I'm having trouble downloading free novels from your sister site and having trouble logging in as a member to your site.
Try lowering your cookie control a notch down while getting downloads or logging on. For some reason, certain security software recognize these actions as cookies.
- I'm a new member, recently joined. When I attempt to download a novel it says my Membership ID is not valid? The message says its either expired or I didn't complete the membership process. Why did this happen?
There are two reasons why a membership might fail. The membership expires in a year, but since you are a new member, that is obviously not the problem. In your case, you didn't finish the enrollment process. This can easily be fixed, but you will need to contact us, providing your login name and password so we can locate your records.
- When I tried to download a novel it said the restriction code was 5 which exceeded my code of 4. What does that mean and how do I download this novel?
The Terms & Conditions explains this in great detail, but you are being prevented from downloading because either you are too young to read this novel or because your preferred restriction level is set to a level 4. (Level 4 is the default and restricts the download of novels containing more than a small amount of explicit sex.) If you are over 21 years old and wish to read all novels, regardless of sexual content, then go to your Personal page and select the link 'Change my personal Preferences'. By selecting the Restriction Level 5, you will be allowed to read all novels.
This additional security is part of this site's effort to protect young readers from unsuitable topics. While this site does not allow pornography, some novels do contain mature topics or moderate amounts of explicit sex which are not appropriate for younger readers..
- On certain pages once I've downloaded a book and hit the back button I end up on a 'page can't be found' screen. What should I do?
On certain browsers (Internet Explorer) the browser forgets information needed to retrieve your prior page. Simply hit the back page button one more time and you should return to a working page.
General Questions:
- I notice that many of the novels have characters named Xavier. What's up with that?
I thought it odd myself, so I did a little investigating. It turns out several of the writers belong to the same writers club and they all decided to write novels which included a character named Xavier. No rules were placed on the personality or occupation this Xavier might have, nor whether Xavier would play a small or major role in the novel. Here's what I found:
- In Goodheart Xavier is the England's Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of a web of spies during the Napoleonic wars. He recruits and marries the heroine, almost bringing down the English Parliament in the process.
- In Lady Anne Xavier is a detective (minor role) that is in love with his ersatz male assistant. The Author fell so in love with the two characters that she is now writing a novel making him the real detective that Sir Doyle used to create Sherlock Holmes and the ersatz male assistant his Dr. Watson.
- In Truth in Lies Xavier is second in command of a secret government agency and uses the heroine to trap our hero and is not a nice man at all!
- In To Serve Xavier is head of a government think tank that has created a woman that can read minds and kill with her thoughts. He uses this woman (the heroine) for good, all the while knowing her powers will soon be out of his ability to control and for the good of mankind, she should be killed, but love prevents him.
- In The Blue Dog Xavier is a manipulative wealthy billionaire that has no qualm torturing the heroine to help her reach artistic greatness.
- In The Candy Store Caper Xavier is young Larisa's sidekick as she helps prove his father innocent of a crime.
- In The Adventures of Xavier Jones and His Troublesome Assistant Xavier is an ill-tempered Victorian Sleuth that with his new cheeky assistant solves four cases and falls in love. (This is the same character that appeared as a minor role in Lady Anne).
- In Vampyre Captive Xavier is a two thousand year old vampire that joins with his father Luciano to save a 'pure spirit' from priest determined to kill her.
